What was your new year’s resolution? Chances are, if you’re like most of us, it has to do with living a healthier life. And, like most of us, those resolutions tend to falter just a few months in. Enter fitness subscription boxes, one of the newest niche categories in the ever-expanding market of subscription boxes.
There seems to be a fitness subscription box for everyone. Some boxes feature fitness fashion, such as Fabletics or SweatStyle; others are geared toward a specific sport or activity, like running or CrossFit; and others cater to a healthier lifestyle with a focus on foods, supplements or overall wellness.
The good thing about these subscriptions is they won’t test your resolve. Not every box is tailored to specific workouts or designed for diehard fitness fans. Many feature more general activities for the novice, like First Step Box, while others are more like a warm up to new activities, such as Minimus Box Hiker’s Gear Box. The best part is if you are not sure which workout routine or fitness lifestyle is for you, subscription boxes let you dip your toe in. Liz Cadman, founder of the website My Subscription Addiction, told How Life Unfolds, the boxes are “a great way to try new things, sometimes pushing you out of your comfort zone.”
Even beauty and fashion boxes are entering the fitness arena. FabFitFun features fitness along with beauty and fashion. Michael Broukhim, Daniel Broukhim and Katie Ann Rosen Kitchens, co-founders of FabFitFun told Forbes magazine, “We try to think about our members' lives holistically – they're not just a beauty girl, or fitness girl, or fashion girl. We're all multi-dimensional."
Most importantly, fitness subscription boxes offer a non-judgmental monthly (or quarterly) reminder to help keep you on track, no nagging included. As Cadman told the Los Angeles Times, “They are a positive reminder every month to be healthy and exercise more.”
