Most of the NFL has moved to tablet computers to learn plays. But the Cleveland Browns are using a different kind of technology: pen and paper. According to The Wall Street Journal, the team’s newest coach, Mike Pettine, is a big believer in the effects of writing. As he puts it, “to write is to learn.” Backed by recent studies on handwriting and learning, Pettine is encouraging his team to take notes on plays rather than type them on a computer. And his approach seems to be working. In Pettine’s first season, he won almost twice as many games as his predecessor.
